Turns from a coffee table into a sofa in one simple action. The concept stems from the need for store textiles in outdoor conditions and consider weather hazards such as UV radiation and rain. Ramitareef created a furniture that is able to store its upholstery and protect it when closed. When open, it allows soft & comfortable sitting with high-end textile, creating the feeling of an indoor furniture. The upholstery is divided into polygons to create living hinges and allow the folding and fitting of the upholstery to different sitting positions.

Our inspiration was the Japanese Bento box and the contrast between the clean outer appearance to the inner richness of colors and textures. The origami technique inspired us to create an impressive layout that exceeds the boundaries of the base structure.

The Safo Sofa is an interesting sofa choice especially for smaller apartments where making the most of the available space is definitely crucial. The Safo Sofa, besides becoming the central piece of the living room (and quite possibly the only room of your apartment) will also act as a storage unit. The Safo Sofa has plenty of storage space for you and it will definitely conceal anything you command it to hide, and it will do so with style. Even with the hidden compartments the sofa seems pretty comfortable, although it might not be the best sleeping arrangement you could think of. Of course, if you’d like your sofa to be turned into a double bed from time to time, then the Safo Sofa is not the model for you, no matter how great it looks.

For an ultra-minimal look, the Conceal bookshelf from Umbra mounts to the wall and becomes invisible behind a stack of books, giving the books the appearance of floating in mid-air. Attach the sturdy, L-shaped shelf to the wall with the included mounting hardware and slide one book onto the ledge so that the ledge is sandwiched between the book's cover and pages. Secure the cover in place using the integrated clips beneath the ledge. Stack up to 15-pound (or 8-inch) of medium to large books on top of the first book until the shelf is obscured from view.

Conceal is constructed of strong, powder-coated steel and is available in two finishes. This model measures 5-1/2 by 7 by 6-1/2-inch. Also available is a smaller size for small books and a wider model that holds two stacks side by side. The patented design by Miron Lior is the winner of many design awards including the Umbra Pratt Design Competition. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this item is donated to the Pratt Institute School of Art and Design. Brought to you by Umbra - the worldwide leader in innovative, casual, contemporary, affordable design for the home.
